What is Copyright?

Copyright is a legal concept that grants the creator of a work of art or literature, or a work that conveys information or ideas, the exclusive right to its use and distribution. These rights include:

  1.  right to reproduce the work
  2. right to distribute copies
  3. right to perform or display the work publicly
  4. right to create derivative works based on the original

Canadian University Dubai complies with UAE LAW No. 38 of 2021 on Copyrights and Neighboring Rights, an intellectual work is any original work in the areas of literature, arts, or science, whatever its description, form of expression, significance, or purpose. In accordance with Article 2, the authors of intellectual work shall be protected if their rights are violated in the UAE.
